I'm coming back to sipX from a long hiatus. I'm looking at the newest version, and I don't see a link to the Homer application for doing SIP traces. Is it still there somewhere?

Thanks,

Tim Ingalls

Homer has been removed.  However, there is a new feature, Network Packet Capture Service, enabled under utility services, which does tcpdump at the interface and saves it in pcap files in the log directory.  You can control how many files it saves on the system and their size under system/network packet capture service.  And you can see the log files in the gui, along with size, time, date and download them via the gui.

It’s pretty handy, and gives you everything, not just SIP.

Actually you could still install homer as

yum install sipxhomer

then restart config.

Thanks for that. I installed sipxhomer. I guess now I have to figure out how to configure it. That was one of my favorite tools back when I used version 4.6.

It has some limitations that were overcome by doing a packet capture at the interface and opening it with wireshark.  Now it does those captures full time for you.   Wireshark is your friend as well.

Thanks Todd. I'm just now finding that wireshark has a similar graphical view that helps with narrowing things down. Good stuff.

Now if I can just figure out what is wrong with my setup . . . but that's a different post.
