NICA MTB Race 8/31/25

Hello fellow Silver City cyclists,

As you may have heard, Aldo Leopold Charter School is sponsoring and organizing the first NICA youth mountain bike race to be held in Grant County. Racers from all over NM (and teams from AZ and TX) will be descending on Fort Bayard to participate in the first NM NICA race of the season the last weekend in August. The actual race is on Sunday August 31.

Aldo Leopold Charter School MTB team will also be participating in the race. The entry fee is $100.00 per racer. New MTB club team members will also need to purchase a team uniform in order to be able to race.

The entry fee and cost of the uniform is prohibitive for some students. If there are any generous cyclists on this listserve who would like to sponsor a student participant by donating the entry fee and/or uniform cost, please reply to this email.

Race organizers are also searching for volunteers to assist with race activities. Please reply to this email, or contact Amber Shay, if you are able to help set up, marshall, ride the course, take down, score or announce for the race. We will let you know how you can best be of help.

Thank you so much to the generous individuals who have offered to sponsor a student MTB team member to participate in the NICA race. If we receive more donations than needed for the Ft. Bayard Dragon-fly NICA race, the donation shall be used to sponsor a student in one of the other NICA races the team will be attending this season.
