Good morning,
Barin and I scouted around the trails on Ft Bayard this morning. We did not go higher than the knot hole trail. All trails are holding up pretty well , even the XC is doing ok. The earth does seem to have met its saturation point . No more sand but soon puddles after the next storm.
A few ;helpful reminders that I shared before but may be worth a review. When riding on moist trails, ride on the sides, ride the rails! It's not as fast but it pushes matter back into the trail slowing down erosion or from turning a trail into a U or V. Never ride straight up the middle of a moist or wet trail or through the middle of a puddle. We want to reduce tire lines or rivlets being formed where the water will further erode. I Like to S the trail . again slower but it's fun making Ss all over the trail.
The knot hole trail or Tanya's teaser as I call it has a large tree down. Very visible right by the pipe that crosses the trail. Otherwise the full knot hole is good; The cut off which shortens the trail and ends at the corrals should NOT be ridden; it is too soft and the scars will stay around a long time if we ride there now. As i mentioned before the earth seems to have reached its saturation point soooo if it rains again today or tonight I will take it all back.
Thank you for loving the trails we ride on!
pb

Bob and I went up with a chainsaw and cleaned it up.
