Hi,

I am new to R, RStudio, Shiny, and ShinyApps and have no idea how to debug my problem.

I can run my ShinyApp locally and successfully deploy it (using the Deploy button in R Studio). My dashboard in ShinyApp.io says that it is running, but I get an error, ERROR: Command failed (1), when following the URL to the app in a browser.

Here is the deployment output in R Studio:

Michael,
Apologies for the complete lack of visibility into the error you are getting.  It is a problem we hope to have solved in the next two weeks.

Would it be possible for you to share your code with us?  Is it possible that you have some data that you are loading which you are referring to in an absolute path instead of relative paths to the directory with your application?

Tareef,

thanks for the reply.

All my code is on github. I will paste it here if you want but server.R is 200 lines long and ui.R is 70. The code repo is here:
it loads data from a R package I created--also on github:

There is no reference to any paths in the ui.R or server.R code.

The only other thing that I can think of is that when deploying the ShinyApp, the readme.md file is in the same directory as the ui.R and server.R, could that somehow have an effect?

just tried re deploying with readme.md removed from directory--only ui.R and server.R in the working directory. Still no joy. same error: command failed (1)

OK,

poster on another thread pointed out my problem. I had included the install_github( 'wc14goals', 'mpodell' ) call in my server.R and ui.R files deployed to ShinyApp.io.

The proper way to do it is to install the github package locally with the latest version of devtools  (v. 1.5 as of this writing) and including only the library (package) and data(package) commands in my server.R and ui.R files. Removing the install_github command fixed the problem.
