I asked the same question back in 2012 when glimmer was still
experimental. I do not think it will happen on the glimmer/spark
servers (they will be retired by the end of this year). For
ShinyApps.io, I'm not sure if it will be implemented (cc'ed to the
shinyapps mailing list).

Yihui is correct in stating that we will not be adding additional capabilities to glimmer/spark, although we may need more time to migrate people over from Spark/Glimmer to it.

I would love to hear more about the use case you have for listing all the applications at a higher directory level so we can add it to our backlog for shinyapps.io.

Best,
Tareef

Hi Tareef,

Thank you for getting back to me and the update on Spark/Glimmer.

I don't have a particularly complicated use case for this, I would just like to be able to point people to a "portfolio" of the apps that I've created and housed on shinyapps.io.

Thanks,
Andee

hi Yihui,

When glimmer/spark are retired, will we be able to redirect people to shinyapps.io pages?

Sorry I'm not quite sure, because I do not work on the shiny hosting
service. However, it should be fairly easy for you to do it by
yourself using a little HTML trick, e.g. in your ui.R, you can
redirect the page using the <meta> info:

shinyUI(basicPage(
tags$head(
tags$meta(`http-equiv` = 'refresh', content =
'0;URL=https://gallery.shinyapps.io/001-hello')
)
))

Hi Andee,
I am assuming you just need the ability to host a single page that has the links to those apps, is that the case?  Is the core request here for that page to be dynamically generated and hosted on shinyapps.io?

Hi Gregory,
When the time comes to shut down spark and glimmer, we will definitely provide a migration path that makes it easy for folks to move over.  No worries.   It isn't something high on our list right now, and shinyapps.io is definitely at a place right now that if you wanted to move your apps over yourself and point people to it, you would be able to do so today.  Let us know if you need any help learning how to do that, or you could wait until we got to the migration of spark/glimmer to shinyapps.io.

Best,
Tareef

Hi Tareef,

That's exactly what I had in mind, thanks! Do you think this is in the cards in the future for shinyapps.io?

Great, I will add it to the backlog, but I don't think it is something that will arrive in the next 2-3 months.
