Hi,

I am new to Shiny and 'R'. Is it possible to deploy apps on windows server using Shiny or does it only works with Linux? I was also looking for ways to integrate R into Asp.Net applications. Is it possible with Shiny?

Thanks,
Suman

Shiny Server is only for Linux for the moment, but we will likely support Windows in the coming months.

Shiny is probably not the way you want to integrate R into ASP.NET (assuming you just want to use R as a calculation engine). You might consider R (D)COM or R.NET.

We don't have anything to announce at this time, but your feedback is helpful and noted. Thank you!

Has there been any more discussion on releasing Shiny Server for Windows in the year since this thread was last updated?
I ask because within my own network, Shiny Server for Windows (without needing a Linux VM or shinyapps.io) is still very high on the wishlist of desired features.

Yes, we have been making progress on this front, but nothing to publicly announce yet. For further information let me direct you to Tareef (cc'd).

Hi,
Has there been any news about a Windows version of Shiny Server ?
I am decided to use the vm solution for a windows 2008 server install, but I am a complete beginner in server administration.
I have looked up for tutorials on setting up a 14.04 ubuntu, but didn't really find any clear one.
Would one of you have an intersting article to suggest ?
Thanks, Simon

You can try docker to deploy shiny server on Windows. It's very convenient.
