AI robotics in manufacturing is a big up and coming thing. My son has a job setting these systems up for manufacturers, who then need fewer employees.

Very cool.
The link to the below is not AI but I wonder if this technology would be helpful.  Could our budget pay for one that we could use at cleanups and let cleanup project volunteers use?
