Rain Date for Curtiss Brook Work Party

I’ve attached a revised flyer for the Curtiss Brook work party (trail building and litter cleanup). We scheduled a rain date for this Sunday, April 13 at 1:00 pm, because it’s supposed to rain Saturday. Normally the Trails Committee does not do rain dates, but there are so many conflicts in April when the SHS students are looking for hours, including Easter weekend, followed by the Shelton Clean-Up Project conflict with the Trails Committee’s regular work party date on the 26ths (their work parties year-round are the 2nd and 4th Saturday morning of the month). I’m going to bring a box of bags and some patches.

Okey doke, I left a box on my chair for you. I have to be a Birchbank at 1:00 and I don’t know if I’ll be back. I’m off on Fridays. I have an entire box of bags in my car for our trail clean-up on Sunday afternoon.

The Curtiss Brook Connector. We worked around the parking area across the street, along the pond, and down one of the trails. We met and worked a bit with Mary King.

We were working on the new Curtiss Brook Connector Trail, so if you didn’t go down that way you might have missed us. Did you see the “Trails Event” sign and the growing pile of garbage at the parking lot? If you just “went down one of the trails” you may have gone down the wrong trail (the Rec Path). The new Curtiss Brook Connector goes down into the ravine with a lot of fresh earth work and guys were digging into the hill near the beginning. Survey tape marked the trail. I did see Mary King there towards the end. I was working on the far end of the new trail all day.
