Hi,

I'm still around, but a bit busy for the next few days. Previously, my
main job was scraping data from various websites. It doesn't look like
quite as much will need to be done on that front so far, especially if
someone (Ka-Ping and Google?) comes out with an application fairly
quickly. However, if something similar needs to be done, feel free to
contact me.

I'd like to be helpful. I managed the data entry side of the PeopleFinder project and did a few other things as well. I've been trying to figure whether there's any reason to create an additional CrisisCamp in Austin - so if people are aware of unmet tech needs I could see about pulling together some of the local techs here - we couldn't see the point of pulling something together without a clear sense of what's needed.

Ping, it's great to hear that PFIF is still around & will be deployed. If nothing else, let me know if I can help get the word out.

We are planning to add a more detailed status field for <pfif:person>
records to the Google Person Finder app at http://haiticrisis.appspot.com/.

These are the options on which we have reached an internal consensus,
and are currently planning to use:
"Not specified"
"I am seeking information"
"I am this person"
"I received information telling me this person is alive"
"I have reason to believe this person is still missing"
"I received information telling me this person is dead"

Hope everyone is well and alive

Since th last post *fifteen years ago

I survived a PhD, a few quakes and  typhoons.

And feel awfully aggravated by the state of things in the world

Anyone still around, on people finder and shelterfinder type apps?

Or doing anything else interesting?

Looking for sign life, intelligent signal, is a lifelong commitment

Oh my gosh... you are sure a voice from the past. 

Glad to hear from you. You sound great despite the typhoons and earthquakes.

I just wrapped up a volunteer tax thing and am looking for something else interesting are useful to do.

I don't have programming skills, but I can give some time for data entry if needed. I am always happy to learn new skills.
