Hi,
I would like to try a few experiments over the next few years in the interests of growing our sport. Some of the experiments may seem radical or may be incompatible with how things are currently done and so I thought the best approach is to test them independent of any club or organization until they show promise. The below covers my first experiment.
I’ve been involved in soaring in a few countries and some of the best prepared and most frequently occurring cross country lectures were in a structure where highly experienced cross country pilots were strongly incentivized to produce high quality lectures. I only experienced this learning opportunity after many years in soaring and I think it could have saved me a lot of time in the earlier years.
I'd like to see if there is interest in a paid workshop where a small group attends several cross country lectures and training that is customized to their needs. Self-study is of course still a viable alternative and free lectures also exist on occasion, but I expect this workshop will appeal to people who find the time saving to be of high value or prefer instructor-led learning to self-study.

Thanks,
Jonathan
