Hi:

Can anyone share where to find water on Saturday's Hopland 400K?

I know I can buy water in stores but wonder about water fountains. I suggest fountains are quicker.

This website is a good community resource for cyclists:

It was started by a South Bay cyclist, so it has better coverage down there.

Those with local knowledge of the North Bay should edit the map for everyone's benefit.

Thanks for the question Peter, filling at fountains also reduces waste!
A couple useful ones I use are 1: Cloverdale Plaza,  and 2: Geyserville Elementary School

There’s always a water tap outside any fire station that you pass where you can refill water.

Also, if you don’t already have it, get the WeTap app for your phone. It is a crowd sourced app for water sources.

It has been many years since (i had stopped with Bruce Berg) but i recall #2 being iffy with the taste and smell of the water. Enough so that I've not used that source in 10 years since.

Derek

Thanks.

It seems pretty thin on local fountains but if everyone contributes, it will be much better and be one place to go.

I’ll start adding local fountains until I run dry of ideas.

Thanks

We refilled at the Geyserville elementary school last weekend and can confirm the water does not taste good.

It has some hardness, but the minerals are good for you!

Can anyone provide fairly recent status info regarding the now-closed Jimtown Store's water spigot that was located on the NE exterior wall?

I've gotten water at a fountain at an elementary school right before turning onto old redwood hwy: https://goo.gl/maps/RLUhqd81DoV5dVSU8

A cyclist I follow posted at the end of February that he replaced the faulty spigot at the Jimtown store (with permission).  So I presume it's operational.

Fingers crossed...I am planning on filling up at Jimtown Store on Saturday, if the spigot is operational!

Side note, I love this very rando photo of a bunch of weird reflective people standing by some dumpsters on the side of a building to get water from a spigot. 😉 😍

Did the Hopland 400k riders find that the Jimtown store had its water tap working during the brevet?
The Davis 400k will be passing by there in a few weeks and knowing its usefulness would be helpful.
Thanks in advance for the intel.

Bill,

Yes, it does! I filled up on Saturday. As Metin mentioned, someone installed a new tap and it works great!

We stopped at the Jimtown spigot. It is working and the water tastes great.

Yes, very nice: water, bike racks, table and empty garbage can that was there for use.
