Today on Wildcat Cyn going west from from San Pablo Dam Rd,  we got turned around by workers at the construction zone, no hike a bke around it was allowed. . CC County Website says work will be done by December 2025.   The re-route uses El Toyanal,  west from Orinda, then re-join Wildcat well above the work zone. Note, there's about 2 k of hardpack dirt descent on El Toyanal after climbing up through the residential area. If there are any permanent routes that use Wildcat, the original route creator should update the route to reflect the closure. Peet's-A-Peet's-A is one of "mine" so I sent in the revised route today to RUSA: https://ridewithgps.com/routes/52336413
Same revision done for Charlie's Angels: https://ridewithgps.com/routes/52338305

Thanks for the heads up, Kitty. I'd heard WC was hard closing but hadn't been out to confirm it myself. Does anyone know if it's hike-a-bike-able on weekends / outside of construction hours?

BTW, the stretch on El Toyonal between Wildcat Canyon Rd and Vista del Orinda is mostly paved, actually - there's probably not more than 400 m of very well-behaved, road-bikeable gravel in total. It's also closed to through car traffic, nicely shaded, and very scenic; a nice addition to routes, really (although the wall on El Toy up from Camino Pablo is maybe a less welcome addition to otherwise chill routes).

Last Saturday, I approached the closure from San Pablo Dam Road. There is extensive fencing extending well into the trees on both sides. The pickup truck in the photo below was idling, but I could not tell if anyone was in the cab. Since then, more fencing has been added to block the path around the fence on the left side.
