Hi Arvi,
Looks like a great route. I wouldn't be looking forward eagerly to the false flat up Corral Hollow/Tesla Rd on a hot afternoon, but you're right that it's surely less imposing than DPC Rd at that time. I've not ridden Mines/DPC/Tesla in this direction but don't see why you couldn't/shouldn't.
A few thoughts:
* The big thing you're missing is that Wildcat Canyon Rd will be closing to ALL traffic on 8/11, through approximately December:
https://www.contracosta.ca.gov/CivicAlerts.aspx?AID=4986 You could climb El Toyonal all the way up from Camino Pablo, but that just seems brutal that far into a ride, so I'd probably take the Lafayette-Moraga Trail to Pinehurst Rd instead. The bike-legal section of CA-24 to Fish Ranch Rd is another possibility, albeit an unpleasant one, especially in low light.
* I think it should be illegal to ride through Pleasanton without stopping at Meadowlark Dairy for soft-serve ice cream. I have converted an ever-growing posse to this point of view and you are welcome to join.
* SFR now uses a few different roads near Grayson to reduce time spent on CA-33.
I combined all the above, plus a slight modification at Las Positas and a switch to Skyline -> Redwood outbound (since you will be riding Pinehurst at the end of the day; one Pinehurst is probably enough), into the following route, whose turn cues I also cleaned up:
https://ridewithgps.com/routes/52070177 It's five miles longer, mostly because of the Grayson reroute and because of avoiding Wildcat Canyon Rd, but doesn't add meaningfully to the overall challenge, I think.
Hope this helps, bonne route!
