Considering that the US has 90,000-95,000 metric tonnes of waste in storage with a similar amount to come by the time existing reactors need to be decommissioned, The process of using an accelerator does not seem like it might be scaled up easily to deal with existing waste, never mind whatever new reactors might produce. All to make steam? We can do better.
