Hi All,

Some of you maybe familiar with Ken Lum, member of SMCAS, PAS, East Bay and FPOA who sadly passed away in mid May.

I am assisting his family sell his astronomical equipment and his vast collection of astronomy books and magazines.

Attached is an excel spreadsheet listing all items for sale with prices (one tab is for equipment and the other is for the books and magazines).

If you are interested in any item, please email me directly and I will reserve the item for you. Checks should be made out to Ken's wife, Loh-Chung Lum and we will setup a pick up date. Shipping is also an option.

Clear Skies,

Chanan Greenberg
Board Member of San Mateo County Astronomical Society

Sad news.  Ken was a great guy and mainstay of the Peninsula Astronomical Society for many years, aside from his professional life as a medical doctor.  I always enjoyed visiting PAS in-town star parties and lectures, where you could always find him.

I think of all the astronomy people I know, I'd run into Ken in various places around the bay area more than anyone.  It got to be kind of a fun joke when we'd be unexpectedly standing next to each other somewhere....

Value your time here!

As a member of SMCAS for years I had several nights at Crestview. It felt more special when Ken was there which was many times.

There was always the lastest thing to try to see if Ken knew. He always did, at the forefront of the hobby it seemed with a passion for it's history and sharing what he knew. We had a 400x night at Crestview where I was so excited and getting loud about it. Ken enjoyed quietly. The good times!

My best memory though was when he gave a short talk on Galileo where it was even more clear his passion for the hobby. 5 out of 5 transparency.

Thank you Mark - losing him was a shock to the system. I am younger than Ken, we met 22 years ago when he was my age now, it was quite a jolt.

I'd be honored thank you.

Ken and I also talked the 2017 total eclipse and I was planning on '24 after a successful event. Ken said he saw one and he was done so there is that.

He was selling items a year or two ago as well, getting into the smart scopes. Always at the forefront.  Last time I saw him was at Crestview studying the downloaded image and learning about it studiously with a smile.

While Ken might have missed '24 eclipse and I did as well, he was probably deep into it somewhere local with somebody learning from him.

While I enjoyed my gear and the partial view locally as well, I was restless of course now knowing what I was missing. My Father put my alignment firmly back in place. He went over and showed our Garbage Man the view. Suddenly, he was now one with the closest star and awe struck at what he saw, and maybe how he got back in his truck never the same.

Ken would have too.

To the stars...
