Mimi Wagner, daughter of TAC founder, Mark Wagner, suffered a pulmonary embolism earlier this week and passed this afternoon. Many of you early TAC members will remember her as the Messier Monster, viewing through her 10” dob yelling ‘found it!’

Mimi leaves behind her husband and two beautiful young daughters. Mimi was a wonderful person, full of love for her family, nature, and the stars. She will be missed by all who knew her.

This is all the information I have. If Mark wants to share more later on I’ll make sure I pass it along to the TAC family.

So sad to hear about Mimi -- I remember her well, as, I am sure, does everyone who was active with TAC in the early days.

Thanks, Richard, that's not easy news to pass along, buddy. Love to all Mimi's folks, including Pat!
Mimi was so nice to Liam, always included him in the fun.

This is shocking. Though I haven’t met Mimi directly, Mark has mentioned about her during a few of our outings. Sorry for the loss to the whole family. Deepest condolences.

Just shocking news. I met Mimi on several occasions, and still visualize her as being a kid.  But a husband and two beautiful young daughters left behind -- this is just cratering.  My sympathy and condolences to her entire family.  I feel sympathy also to her extended circle of friends and acquaintances, from her many walks of life, including in the astro community, that they must suffer and endure this loss.

Mark,

I witness the outpouring of all the good friends in the hobby reaching out to express the common empathy with your family's loss.  This shows yours and Mimi's impact and how much she will be missed.

I look forward to seeing you in person again somewhere under the stars and hope that I'll have the right words to say then.

Until then, my thoughts are with you and family.

Best,

Stephen Migol

Scott Harrington, all the way from Arkansas, asked me very politely to post this for him here -

I never met Mimi Wagner, but have always remembered her from the Sky & Telescope article. Like Albert Einstein, she had the honor of being one of the few people to ever grace the cover of the magazine. And of all the issues in my Dad’s old collection, it was an early favorite of mine because when I first read it, she was younger than myself. However, I was reading it around 2008, at a time when I was 14 and she was 20.

To hear that she is now not with us is hard for me to comprehend. I’m distressed. I can’t even begin to imagine what her father, husband, close friends, and children must be going through. She touched so many lives – including my own – and I’m thankful for it.
