Right now, the search function is not as specific as V3 Session Buddy was. Back then, searching for collections was much easier because the search results show only the specific titles of the collections. Now, the search system combines both collections and contents. Meaning if i want to search a collection title like movie, whatever collections that is not titled 'movie' but have tabs that are titled 'movie' will appear as well.

Can we have a setting where there is only COLLECTION TITLE SEARCH? Filtering out the tabs titles in the collections so we can search specific collections? Thank you!test.png

Thanks for your message!

This is a great example of a belief that SB v3 was better than v4 in a specific way where in fact the opposite is true. It's a valid assessment in some cases, but not in this particular case. As far as improvements go, that's on us for not better communicating new features and enhancements. As for the misperception of a regression, chalk it up to the unreliability of memory I guess? Nevertheless it's interesting how common this seems to be.

A few notes about this:
  • SB v3 behaved exactly the same as SB v4 with respect to matching both collection and link titles
  • In v4, you can now click the search bar after conducting a search to open a dropdown displaying results by relevance (similar to gmail). Matches on collection titles are highly ranked, so they are displayed at the top of this list.
  • v4 introduced meta querying allowing search terms to be targeted specifically to collections, history, folders, links, etc with syntax like history:session, buddy. While this doesn't currently facilitate the specific use case you outlined, it sets the groundwork for fine-tuned querying that will improve over time as the syntax evolves. This means you will eventually be able to target collection titles specifically with something like collection-title:movie.
Cheers,
Hans
