Effectively Useless Now

Why would you change something that wasn't broken? Why did you eliminate previous sessions? (THE WHOLE REASON PEOPLE USED THIS EXTENSION!?!?!) Why is there no way to eliminate highlighted items from history? Why is there no search option? So much just doesn't make sense.

you are right: a search now only show up tabs - but i like more the functionality as before: filter my list in the current session. For example i like only to show youtube tabs then i was able to search for youtube. now when i search for youtube i can only select 1(!) tab but can not filter anymore. i think this is useless now.

previous sessions are behind the history tab. but there i miss some informations about how many tabs there are open. the previous UI was better in this case

Agree... This extension amassed such so many users over the years because it had the most PRODUCTIVE functionality of all others which were just cr*p.

Why did developer thought it would be a good idea to remove so many productivity features and search filter that were the reason people flocked to this extension?

I also often used F3 search to find some particular bits of the URL when selected "show tab urls" view...

Previous UI was also more compact and could show way more lines per screen size than the current one.

Might be helpful to read the  Session Buddy v4 update thread. Essentially his hand was forced and had to upgrade because of Chrome Deprecation.

because Google announced that they were going to change things in a way that
would make the old version unable to work at all.

so it wasn't broken today, but would break completely in a few months.

This is working as before now (with the exception of matching on History, which will be added soon).

Let me know if it's working the way you expect it to now or if you have any additional feedback on how to improve it further.

Every nice feature is gone, and there were a lot of them.

1. The tab counter in the Buddy extension button - gone.
2. The option for deleting a tab from inside a saved session or the current session - gone. Why?
3. The ability to filter the tabs inside a given session or the current session using the search field - gone. Why?
4. The ability to search for a URI subfolder with a 3 letter name, like /out/ - gone. Doesn't work anymore.
5. Now there's a 10 year limit on how old saved sessions may be and a maximum amount of sessions of 500. Why? What will happen with the sessions older than that? Or what has already happened? Deleted implicitly without an option to opt out? Very nice!

It's like a deliberate effort was made to strip as much functionality as possible from this extension, with devs going out of their way to take features away and make the extension worse in every possible way. It's mind boggling. But emblematic of modern software and modern software development.

it was a complete re-write from scratch. that means that everything needed to be
implemented again, so some of what you are complaining about just didn't make
the first cut.

the 10 year 500 message limit is the same as what was in version 3, you just
didn't realize it. The limit has also been raised with 4.0.2

Not gone. Select what you want to delete, then hit the Delete key or right-click and click Delete.

To reinforce what David Lang said, this did not change. v3 had the same limits. v4 limits are the same by default but can now be increased in Settings > History.

So update the app to deprecation whatever with the same features. Or as many as possible before releasing the update if duplicating every feature would be impossible in the available time (not a programmer, to me it's a matter of ctrl+c ctrl+v from V3 to V4 and presto; I'm sure it's not that simple in practice). Even the same look, it was not a graphical designer's wet dream, but all it really needed was dark mode.

It certainly didn't need neutered search, split session locations, less info on each session in History, not being able to delete sessions in History, lower overall information density...
