Selenium Grid - Sizing

Greetings

I see that the recommendations are

Hub for small to medium

Distributed for large

With an older version I had issues if I had more than about 500 nodes.

So how many nodes (with 1 client per os) do you suggest per

Hub

Distributed

And to confirm: in distributed is each piece on separate machine or the same?

Howdy,

I can see you didn't get an answer here. Did you happen to get an answer elsewhere? Is there any chance you just went ahead with testing out an upgrade yourself? Curious as my team is planning the same. For what it's worth I flagged this question with a similar inquiry in the #selenium support chat channel through slack so I'm hopeful to get a response there. I am currently betting that we will end up with a classic "Hub and Node(s)" rather than "Distributed" setup but agree there's a lack of specificity in the docs.

Gotcha.

I'm not sure what the challenge would be of merging multiple results but I guess that would depend on how you run tests.

For what it's worth I got an answer that a 280 slot 20 node setup was a middle size grid in the developer chat. I opened up a documentation bug as well to ask for definitions:
