Hi,

I'm using Monte Media java library to record test execution. It works like a charm on my local machine, but when I use it on my CI engine inside a windows server virtual machine, all I get is a black movie from start to end.
I searched through blogs and forums and it seems there are some more people experiencing this issue, but no solution is provided. I do home there is some solution to this.
Can anyone help me? Thanks

Hi Andre,

Are you running the selenium node on an RDP session, by any chance? When the RDP session is disconnected, I believe Windows doesn't render the screen when the RDP client is not connected - which might be why the Monte Media library is taking a video of a blank screen.

I would recommend running the selenium node under a proper windows login, and administrating it using a VNC connection. I'm not able to advise you on the details, but I believe the VM hosting software may be able to assist with this.

Thanks,

Alasdair

Alasdair is correct. This problem will come up when rdp connection to the remote machine is involved.

You should setup a vnc server that let's you use a vnc client to login to the remote box. We had to resort to this approach when screen shots started turning black.

What about logging in to RDP as console/admin session instead of typical RDP sessions? Or just logging in locally to VM desktop via the VM management software interface?
