Hi there, I am trying to run the optimization of the segmentation parameters, and am using OTB. I know from the tutorial there is a vector of three numbers for both the min and max parameter options.

The last number in each of those sequences is for the spectral resolution, the middle one is the spatial size of the segments, and the first one is for the number of clusters. Is there any approach to setting good starting parameters for each of these ones? I the optimization keeps failing after two iterations where it returns Mean=NaN and Best= -INF.

I am not sure if there are other parameters I am messing up, it could be that as well.

Cheers,
Brandon

Hi Brandon,

Have you tried to set up parameters based on these published values?

https://www.researchgate.net/publication/334707029_Supporting_Information_SegOptim-A_new_R_package_for_optimizing_object-based_image_analyses_of_high-spatial_resolution_remotely-sensed_data

Check "Linked Data" / [Supporting Information] - Appendix S2

It may be a good starting point. Otherwise it's a trial and error process until a suitable interval is defined. Then GA can help to tune this iteratively.

Cheers

João
