SecurityOnion v2.3 use Suricata instead of Snort . Why?

I really wanna know what is the difference between Suricata and Snort v3.0 , i am looking for the document to compare 2 IDS for the best Option of Our Security Onion . Any help pllease?

Unless something changed recently, there is no option to use Snort 3.0 in Security Onion.  It was not included in Security Onion 2.x due to its non-GA status, even though it was expected to release soon (and did just that).
