Homing Failed - Printer Halted _ Please reset.

With my Lulxbot Taz 6 3d printer running Cura on W10, I keep getting the error message - Homing Failed - Printer Halted _ Please reset.

In the past month when I get that message I powered off the Luzbot Taz 6 and powered back on but that's not working..

What's wrong and what steps can I take to fix it?

You may want to check the endstops are functioning properly on the printer (You can use a multimeter probe to determine this on the resistance or continuity mode) or are not stuck down somehow. Those would all likely cause an issue like that.

Additionally, if the printer has a homing probe it would be worth making sure the probe isn't sending out a bad signal (or that the harnesses for all of these are properly connected)

Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

multimeter probe- is that a toll you use?

I'm not sure how to find/check if the  printer has a honing probe?

I'm all self taught with little instruction from Lulzbot so I;m learning all of this by trial and error.

Hello

I have had problems with HP and Epson printers where the plastic strip with square holes,

 (what ever that is called) used to position the carriage, gets ink and chaff in the holes and it can’t find the carriage's position.  I used alcohol on a Q tip to clean the strip.

Hi Charles,

Yes, a multimeter is a tool commonly used for checking the state of electronic circuits.

The homing endstops can be found at the ends of each axis - If you google 3D printer endstop issues there should be some good guides on how to solve some generic issues you can experience with them (not specific to the TAZ 6) such as this article. Similarly if you don't have a multimeter or aren't familiar with it there should be endless guides online about it.

I watched this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4D4qkeSwlc4 and it was spot on.

I used a level and level each side and it [printed flawlessly.

Nice when you find an easy solution!
