3D Printer PLA - Marking and Measuring

Hi All...

I 3D print some tiny objects I need to mark their size.

I've tried a Permanent Marker Sharpie but that doesn't work on PLA.

What pens, writing instruments or methods have you used to mark a tiny object?

e.g. X: 0.2 Y: 0.2 Y: 0.41

Also, which tool do you use to measure tiny holes or other areas?

The Calipers is clunky. Do you hold the object to Google Lens to determine machine (accurate) specs?

I'm not an engineer so I'm less familiar with tools used for measuring besides a tape measure.

To measure/check small holes often pin gauges are used:

you can replicate this type of test with a drill bit (use the straight/non-cutting end) if you have drill bits handy.  Numbered bits are substantially smaller than the fractional ones you're probably used to.

Could you just print them in different colors and make a key - eg. red is X size, yellow is Y, red is Z ?
