Yet another lesson learned on the elusive Samtec 25-pin edge connectors.  I had ordered some from DigiKey back in the spring (May?) based on their claim (at the time) that they would ship in June.  That never happened and the chat representative was now saying they had no estimated date.  So I cancelled that.  the Samtec web site pointed me to Newark which said they have them in stock, and sure enough their web site reports:

Two key phrases there: “supplier direct ship” (i.e. Samtec will ship… except Samtec says they don’t have any); and “non-cancelable”…  but I liked the part about “with you in 2-3 business days”.

So I said what the heck, and placed an order…  now I see:

And:

So these really are basically unavailable for the next two months. Hopefully that won’t slip further.  At least DigiKey let me cancel but not so with Newark

In the mean time the best bet is probably to use Terry Smedley’s trick of using the original style Molex edge connectors, though you’ll have to build up from smaller ones (e.g. two 10-pin and two 15-pin)…  this has been discussed here so you could search the google archive to find more….

At the risk of beating this dead horse even further:

Amazon seller "DataAlchemy" sells the full-width 25-pin Molex connector with gold contacts.  They are drop-shipping from OnlineComponents in Chicago, which lists 106 in stock as of today.  I have ordered from both of these sources in the past and the connectors were shipped UPS the same day I ordered them.

(Don't be put off by the generic photograph of a six-position connector - this item is the real-deal Molex 25-pin connector.)

If anyone wants to group order these guys from onlinecomponents, I would be interested in 6.
Shipping to Canada is $30US, a bit on the high side and UPS sucks in Canada.  USPS works great though.

I did send some Samtec connectors to Canada to help out Henry Broekhuyse with his Z80 V4 board assembly and the price came to #13.54 USD. That is the lowest I was able to get via USPS.

I fell into that same trap over a month ago... I noticed the Newark web site showed the connectors as being "in stock", ordered them, only to see the status remain at "Processing" with a delivery date estimated to be in October/November. I called Newark, and in my case they allowed me to cancel the order. Since I had to wait anyway, and since what Newark was charging for shipping was going to be 10x the cost of the connectors themselves, I've decided to wait until they are back in stock at Digi-Key.

I only have two left for the SSI board. I ordered more, so you will need to wait until 8/18/2021.

Some positive news... I just got notice that Mouser is again shipping the Samtec connectors. Unfortunately they list only 38 items in stock, with a lead time of 14 weeks till they receive the next batch.
