Just found out that NTE Electronics is defunct. They happened to make my favorite solder wick:

Maybe I’m just fussy but I’ve got a half dozen other brands sitting around that I never use because the NTE stuff worked so great. I’ll miss them!

Any favorite solder wick products out there? I’ll have to find another brand…

I still have half a roll of Radio Shack brand that just always worked for me.  No idea who actually made it and obviously not available any more.

I may have to see if anyone has NTE stock available and buy a roll or two.

Thanks for the information.

MG Chemicals wick has always worked fine for my purposes. Still available
from almost any larger supplier.

The stuff Heathkit supplied was SODER-WICK, Size #3 from Solder Removal Co., Covina, CA 91724
Heathkit Part No. 490-185

I still have some!

Not an answer, but the best tool I've ever bought in support of my electronics hobbies was a Hakko desoldering gun. Using it actually makes me smile.

The Hakko is great!  Love it, though I’ve got to order some supplies for mine (the little filter pads in the back..)

Thanks for all the suggestions.  I’ll try MG Chemicals ones – they seem to be widely available…
