After the ride yesterday, my Wahoo Element 3 showed my elevation accent at 804 ft where ridewithgps shows the ride elevation to be 1548 ft. I know that there can be some discrepancies between actual elevation data between bike computers and ridewithgps. However, 744 feet seems very far off. Anybody who was on ride and have an elevation gain that matched or close to 1548 would please comment as that would verify that my Wahoo computer is incorrect and needs some repair.

FWIW My Garmin 1040 recorded 383 meters (~1256 feet).

What is RwGPS' estimate of your climbing? Ie, from uploading your ride to your RwGPS account? There are myriad reasons for climbing figures to disagree.

This seems like a very large discrepancy. If it has happened consistently on other rides your Wahoo might be defective.

Thanks, Checked ridewithgps estimate and it shows 1439 miles, so that is much closer to the route elevation of 1548 miles. Updated firmware in Wahoo element and will see if that makes a difference.

The one time I've compared elevation gain my Roam v2 was 11% less than RwGPS' interpretation of the same data.

In my area, routes created with RwGPS consistently show less climbing and shallower grades than when ridden/recorded with any device, including the ROAM v1 and v3.

1500+ miles of elevation gain is crazy none the less

In my experience, RWGPS tends to run high in terms of climb estimate compared to the exact same ride data interpreted through Straval. I use my phone as a sensor.  Case in point:

2/14 (200k perm)  RWGPS 131.2 / 5324'    Strava 131.22 / 5130'
3/7 (200k perm)  RWGPS 131.4 / 4536'   Strava 131.42 / 4092'
Distances are the same but elevation off by 10%?  I think it's hard to say who's right.  I believe the bigger value 😁

Steve, do you mean the elevation gain as recorded during a ride, or the gain estimated in a route you created in RwGPS?

1439 ft vs 1548 ft of elevation, not miles

Bummer. Looked like you were a shoo-in for the KOM award.
