Hello fellow Go enthusiasts,
The Go Center remains closed due to the COVID-19 emergency, and all
in-person events remain canceled for the time being.
Governor
Inslee's proclamation yesterday closes all non-essential businesses,
and bans all in-person recreational gatherings until at least April 6, and
possibly later.
With that in mind, the earliest the Go Center might re-open would be
Thursday, April 9. Therefore, the monthly tournament scheduled for Sunday,
April 5, is canceled. The annual Spring Tournament scheduled for Sunday,
May 3, is uncertain at this time. Outreach events are canceled, including
Sakura-Con, the
Cherry Blossom Festival at Seattle
Center, and the
University
District Street Fair.
We'll continue to monitor
www.KingCounty.gov/covid and
other health authorities, and we urge everyone to keep themselves and loved
ones safe. And we hope to see you
enjoying
Go online. If you're interested in the East Coast vs. West Coast league
that's in the planning stages, please sign up on the
Seattle
Go Center homepage -- all levels are welcome, and you don't have to be
in Seattle.
PS -- For those curious about the Italian boardgamer blog I mentioned,
discussing life under a more rigorous social distancing regime, here it
is:
And for the methods used in Nanjing China to go from 93 cases to
*zero* cases of novel coronavirus, as seen from the perspective of a
foreigner:
I suspect that similar measures may be in our future.
