What's in the box?

A friend of mine has this box in storage, but she can't get it down due to a recent injury.   It came from an aunt who was an early Apple employee.

Any guesses as to what it originally contained?

An ebay listing suggests 1984ish Mac, but that doesn't look right to me.

That’s definitely the shape of an Apple 2 box. Not sure which model but if the text is replicated in the same font on Mac boxes I’d bet on a //e.

Its an Apple IIc. (found by finding a box & looking up its patent numbers)

"Patent 4278972; 4136359; 4130862"

Apple IIc released 1984

Apple used similar text on other Apple boxes — and the //c and //e were the same proportions at slightly different scales, so without a clearer sense of the box dimensions I think it’s hard to know.

Good find.   I hadn't checked all the pictures in that listing.  The box in that listing actually says "APPLE2E" at the end of the FCC ID.

Update: a neighbor helped her get it out of storage.    Apple //e confirmed.
