Jennifer Stephens and family would like those who knew Brian and Sirex to know that he died last week (Tuesday 16th June) at home after a long illness.
Brian loved being at sea, a former merchant seaman and for the last 40 odd years had many happy times with friends and family on Sirex and he so enjoyed the camaraderie of the seadog community.

So sorry to hear of the passing of Brian, as a near neighbour and fellow member of the Kingsbridge Estuary Boat club he often tried to convince me of the superior performance of the Seadog compared to my Macwester Wight. I not only passed Sirex everytime i left the pontoon but was towed the 2 miles back against the tide by Sirex in my dinghy after a longer than planned beach BBQ. Having bought a Seadog to prove him wrong, Sirex was sadly damaged by the gas explosion. As I sat staring at his scabbed face and arms, Brian's description of how calmly he tackled the fire before the air ambulance arrived typified a man of his generation who had spent most of his life at sea. Fair winds and following seas Brian
