Best gem/engine for user conversations in a Rails app (and we're hiring!)

All,

I'm considering adding conversation boards/forums to Airnoise to help users engage in the larger effort to combat airport noise.

A little Googling led me to this: https://thredded.org/thredded/ 

It looks decent, but I'm wondering if anyone has other gems or engines they like for providing this type of functionality in a Rails app.
