Hello all,

I have a problem that I just can't solve. When I install and start SDRTrunk it sees both tuners (RTL-SDR R820T2)  but gives each one the same ID. There is no way that I have found to change the ID so that I can program one for the P25 control frequencies and the other the talkgroup frequencies.

I am running Windows 10 64bit with all updates installed. Device manager shows each one separately.

Would any of you have any ideas? Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Frank Brehm

Hello, Frank

You can edit the ID of a dongle using an application like rtl tool (https://www.rtl-sdr.com/tag/rtltool/).

Wont the dongles still tune to what's in their range regardless of if its a control freq or voice freq?

Change the serial numbers of the dongles to be different from one another

I have a similar problem, both RTL-SDR blog v3  have the same serial number.
I download RTL Tool.
Using either the x64 or x86 versions of RTL Tool with Windows 10 the drop down list to select a dongle is blank.
What am I doing wrong?
Suggestions appreciated!

Thanks,
Steve

Hi Steve,

Here is what I did and it worked.

Download the RTLTool file and unzip all the files inside.

Download the RtlSdr++ file and unzip all the files inside.

After unzipping the files find the RtlSdr++ Distribution directory under RtlSdr++ Distribution 20180320

Find the RtlTool.exe file from the RTLTool Distribution directory and copy it into the RtlSdr++ Distribution x64 directory. This directory has the RtlSdr Catalog.exe file in it.

After copying the RtlTool file run the RtlCatalog program, and it should show the dongles. Give it a few seconds to find the dongles.

Close that and the open the RtlTool program that you copied, it also takes a few seconds to find the dongles, and it should also show the dongles and you can then choose one and change the ID.
