So I'm the blind potential user who was asking for help a few weeks ago. Iirc, dev had mentioned that java access bridge stuff was missing and they had included that in the hopes it would solve at least part of my issue.

I admittedly have a long way to go yet before I know if I'm going to run into a snag, but first off, it immediately launched successfully and gave me the CPU calibration prompt. I'm waiting on that to finish now. This is a far cry better than the previous experience which was an error in the console with a total fail to actually get anywhere.

I note there's another window open besides the console that I'm able to tab through at least part of. I'll probably have more feedback on that soon.

Hi.

Forgot to mention I'm using the Windows version here with the NVDA screen reader. I'm able to find and read the calibration progress bar. I note that some of the things that I think are probably check boxes which I appear to be able to read while calibrating are not saying they are check boxes nor is the state of them being read out, but I won't know until calibration is finished whether that is just because it's focusing on calibration.

I'll probably have quite a few messages, but I'll try to keep responding in this thread so people disinterested can be rid of them easier.

Awesome work Denny,  works great now with my RSP-1 in addition to my original RTL-SDR's.

Hi.

Calibration done. I think I have full functionality in preferences. I was able to set the tones, recording format, sample rate, etc.

In the main window I tabbed a couple of times and got stuck in a table. I can't tab out of the table, so I'm now using screen reader specific navigation features to explore. I notice there's a menu bar, but the alt key doesn't go to it like it would normally do. I figured alt+f would go to file and alt+v would go to view, neither are currently working. Just alt by itself should focus the bar where I could arrow right or left to examine the available menus there, but that just opens the system menu as though this application has no menu bar. The system menu in theory for an application that does have a menu bar would have been alt+space. However, for many applications that don't have one, it defaults to just alt instead. I'm unsure how difficult a fix that is, but there's a lot more to try and figure out yet. If I run into showstoppers elsewhere it might make it less worth the bother for both the dev and the user.

Going to have to look at the manual to find out how to start and see if I can manage to follow along with it at all. I'm very good at getting screen readers to do the job, so if it's possible it's likely I'll figure it out.

@aaron - does your software allow for screen shots?  I'd like to see how the program is being presented to you.

Hi.

Sure. By the way I figured out how to get out of the table, ctrl+tab for some reason. That's unconventional, ctrl+tab is supposed to go from tab control to tab control. But what ever works! When ever I get stuck in a table, that always gets me out, so that's nice.

I'm really making a mess of this I think, but I did manage to set up a p25 phase2 channel. There are people talking, but it's doing an odd stereo thing where people are on the left and right. No idea how it's deciding which side to play on.

Btw, Radioreference will let you sign into the website with your email, but sdr trunk doesn't, you have to use the username instead. No biggie, but maybe it should say that.

I set the country, state and county, then was kind of able to figure out how to select a trunk system. At this point the limitation isn't accessibility with my screen reader so much as that I don't know how to work the software very well yet and need to be following the admittedly well written manual.

When the people talk they are super clear, which is kind of impressive as I am just using the stock rabbit ear thing that came with my rtl2832. That and in West Virginia like I am, I'm in very hilley terrain, especially where I live we are litterally down in a holler surrounded by hills. There are no towns within 10 miles. These guys are super, super sharp and clear. Our physical scanner didn't come anywhere near this clear.

My control channels seem to be working. I would like to get it to not be in stereo like that. I'm going to change the sound output in preferences to mono in the hopes that fixes it, but would like to find out what the advantage to having it this way is.

I have not figured out how to find out what channel it's on right now quickly. Like when I hear someone talking, there must be a display somewhere that would show you the alias or something that person is keyed up on, but that's not something I've learned how to find yet.

I notice in my log that it is correcting frequencies on its own. Since I can't train the software due to the visual aspect of lining the images up on an active and known frequency, I just imported things from Radioreference, prayed and played. I've got no idea if I'm missing things or what, but I'm just amazed that I hear people talking, lol.

But that said, I've spent money on other software packages and then not been able to do anything. This is far and away my best chance. Thanks for all the help! This is gonna be a wild ride!

Arron,  I have never signed into radio reference with an email. It's alway been username and password for me.

Hi.

https://paste.pics/LRTND

That was taken about 5 minutes before I send this and the player is currently playing. Doing OCR on the image, I notice it mentions "mono" in there. I have managed to get the sound output to be mono since my last message.

I figured out how to do this screenshot thing easily now, so if I need to do more later for assistance I can.

@ Denny,

I am not sure what the log setting button (shown below) is for but when clicking it, it does not do anything on my windows 7 pc. Have not tried on Win 10 pc yet.

This would be more of a feature request. The visible spectrum shown in the pic with noise floor is very nice but is there a way to combine that somehow with the tuners tab? It would be real nice to watch that while doing fine adjustments on a busy system as opposed to using the upper spectrum since it bounces between control channels and voice channels.

And will the filter option be returning in future releases?  I really miss that..

Finally started up, but will not lock onto CC for towers 1 or 6 miles away.  It actually does better on a tower that is 12 miles away (my levels are fine on older builds and work flawlessly).  This is Hyterodyne with no SIMD enabled.  It seems to be skipping from one CC to another like its looking, will hit the active CC, play a second or two of audio, then begin going through all CC's again.

It seems I might have an issue with streaming.

I set up an icecast2stream. It shows the connected in the table in the playlist editor. The mountpoint shows up in the icecast webpage, I downloaded the .m3u and ran it, it opened in Foobar2000 and it is streaming.

I have the time marker going up. Initially, it just said scanning... but I noticed that it wasn't actually playing anything. I don't have sdrtrunk itself muted, so I can hear it. When I hear it, I don't then also hear it again from Foobar2000. The metadata was saying Scanning. I did something and now it just shows the name of the stream and there is no metadata. I tried moving all aliases to the second table on the streaming thing in the playlist editor and then back to the first one again. Right now they're all in the second one and the first one just says no  aliases available.

I think there's an accessibility issue with the enabled item on the streaming tab. I can't figure out how to toggle it. I also can't tab to it, but I can navigate the screen reader directly to it.

So far so good! It's been 72+ hours with a RSP 1a on Ubuntu 22.04LTS.

I have been using Version 0.6.0 Alpha 3 with the SDRplay RSPdx for about one week and it is working very well.  I am not a software engineer, nor a programmer and only am fairly familiar with the Linux / Ubuntu O/S.  I did load the SDRPlay RSP API 3.07.  All loaded well.  SDRTrunk discovered the RSPdx.  The spectrum showed the frequency.  On first use the status showed idle.  I assumed the Java was not running so tinkered to no avail.  I then deleted Java and went through the SDRPlay user preferences and Decoder and loaded again.  Still nothing.

Since this is an older computer I was using for the Source / Tuner the Heterodyne setting that was saved from previous versions where I had utilized an RTL-SDR.  Using the RSPdx I changed it to Polyphase, restarted the SDRTrunk and now SDRTrunk works fine.

The computer handles it well.  I type this only for the benefit of anyone who may have been utilizing heterodyne setting and not having the RSPdx work.  If this was pointed out in previous instructions or posts, I apologize for the repetition.
