Waterfall off option

Been looking how to start SDRT with waterfall disabled, cannot find any info.  I restart everyday at same time and don't want the CPU hog to run on startup.

On my V0.5.0 alpha 6, I disabled my waterfall via View- Disable spectrum and waterfall a long time ago. It does not re enable itself unless told to meaning when I restart start the application, it stays disabled.

Running same version as you, I do right click on waterfall to disable most of the time, will try View - Disable Spectrum and waterfall in the dropdown.

I discovered that SDRtrunk uses the preferences listed in

<application root directory> / SDRTrunk.properties

 

In that file find

spectral.display.enabled=false

which works for me, but only when I start it with the shortcut that I created on the Windows 10 Desktop. When it starts from the batch file that I placed in shell:startup it sometimes choose to ignore that setting. Go figure.

 

I also just discovered the settings.xml file which defines where the dividers for the various panes are drawn. It never remembers those when I move them so maybe I will experiment with that to get me more screen real estate for the Now Playing calls grid since that is of interest to me, whereas the spectrum display and waterfall are not.

Looked that that file, did not work.  I believe that is a file that the current settings are written to, rather than what the programs follows.

Did anyone ever figure out how to permanently disable the waterfall?  I too have tried via the gui but it turns back on the next time I run sdr-trunk.

For anyone wondering, I was able to accomplish this by doing what Bote Man said, but then chmod 0444 SDRTrunk.properties.
