Green Energy, Green Mining, Green New Deal?
Webinar May 5, 2021
11 am (Vancouver/San Francisco/La Paz) – 2 pm (Toronto/New York/Santiago) – 7 pm (London/Lisbon/Lagos)
The mining sector is working hard to take advantage of the climate crisis, painting mining as "green" because it supplies materials needed to support the green energy transition. But unless demand for both energy and materials are curtailed, environmental destruction and social conflicts will also continue to grow. How can a "Green New Deal" address this contradiction?

Transition Juste, Énergie Propre, Mines Vertes?
Conférence 5 Mai 2021
11am (Vancouver/San Francisco/La Paz) - 2pm (Montréal/New York/Santiago) - 7pm (Londres/Lisbonne/Lagos)

I would like to bring to everyone’s attention the Al Jazeera’s documentary about the environmental and social cost of energy transition. Jean Boucher sent it out a week ago and somehow it escaped the notice of SCORAI-ers. The message is not new but it is very well told. It may be effectively used as educational material for the general public as well as techno-optimists.
