Dear SCORAIers,
it’s time for another cross-pollination meeting of the Working Group on Sustainable Consumption Communication (WgCoCo). The next session’s theme is “How can we trigger and maintain positive social tipping points?” and we are very happy to announce Iain Black (Professor of Sustainable Consumption at the University of Strathclyde, Scotland) as our guest speaker.
We recognize that systems change is required urgently to address the climate and biodiversity crises. But how do you change systems across scales when bad faith actors are working against you? In this 1h interactive cross-pollination session offered by the SCORAI and FUTURE EARTH communications group, we will explore the concept of Positive Social Tipping Points and how our understanding of sustainable communications, contested campaigning and message development can help trigger and maintain deep and lasting changes to social systems. We will kick-off this reloaded session on the social tipping points with a lightbulb presentation by Prof. Iain Black (University of Strathclyde/Scotland) and continue then to gather our collective understanding and experience to feed this into an ongoing body of work contributing the Global tipping points research and reports. Let's turn knowledge into power!
Date: September 24th

To add to Saleem’s suggestion, not everyone uses the Outlook Calendar.
A Zoom invitation that includes multiple calendar options AND the Zoom link itself can be sent from within Zoom itself, I think.
Even just the Join link would let us create our own calendar reminder.
Good luck to you folks.

We’re delighted to have Prof. Iain Black (University of Strathclyde, Scotland) as our guest speaker.
We’ll explore how sustainable communications, contested campaigning, and thoughtful message development can help spark and sustain deep, lasting changes in social systems – even when facing counter-efforts by bad faith actors.
