Dear all,

in the last meeting we decided to tackle another group project. Our last project, the "Didactic map of computational archaeology", was great fun and worth repeating.

This time we decided to select some old, abandoned archaeological research software and bring it back to life. This could for example mean:

- Taking an old project that does not compile any more and update the build pipeline.
- Rewriting a software library in a more modern framework.
- Elevating a promising script to a proper library.
- Updating outdated documentation to make a derelict workflow shine again.

To decide what exactly we should revive, I invite all of you to to think about tools and scripts that would require such treatment. In the next SIG-SSLA meeting (April 3) we would like to discuss concrete proposals: If you know a promising candidate, then please prepare a 3-7min pitch to introduce the code and what you think should be done. A polished presentation is not required, but the group should be able to judge what and how much work would approximately be necessary.

Ideally we find some projects that are both useful and truly abandoned. In some cases the past maintainers may even have put out an explicit call for help.

Best,
Clemens

Dear all,

there is a little mistake in the invitation we sent out for this week's meeting. The meeting tomorrow will be at 15:00 UTC (= e.g. 17:00 CEST), not 16:00 UTC. The information in the SIG's Google Calendar is correct.

Best,
Clemens
