Dear Colleagues,

I've been musing on the fact that while parents are often delighted to hear their child is "gifted," kids don't always have this same reaction.  When I first started talking to kids about their testing results as a regular practice, I figured talking about giftedness would be the easy part.  But I was wrong.  In fact, many of the kids I worked with would flat-out reject the notion that they were gifted - it just didn't jive with their experience of the world.  If I'm supposed to be so great at everything, why does it feel so hard?

Over the last few years, I've been workshopping the way I help kids understand giftedness and I've included some of this in a recent blog post. I hope it's helpful to your practice!

Best wishes to everyone and happy new year!

Warmly,

Liz
