We lost a major advocate for best practices in school neuropsychology with the recent death of James Brad Hale, Ph.D., ABPdN. On May 8th, Brad died in a car accident. Dr. Hale served children throughout his career, as a tenured full professor, board-certified pediatric neuropsychologist, licensed school psychologist, and certified special education teacher (learning disabilities, and behavior disorders endorsements). As a leader in the fledging field of Educational Neuroscience, Dr. Hale advocated for translating neuroscience advances into educational practice in the classroom. One of his best-known publications was the School Neuropsychology: A Practitioner’s Handbook which he co-authored with Dr. Catherine Fiorello in 2004. Dr. Hale extensively published on topics related to school neuropsychology. His contributions to the field will live on but he passionate spirit will be missed.

Oh no!!!! What an enormous loss to the field!  I am devastated to learn this news.  He remained accessible to me throughout my training with SNP and beyond it and was always very generous with his time and information-sharing.  Is there an obituary you can forward to the group so that we may make a contribution somehow?

Devastating news.  Absolutely devastating......

Terribly devastating.  Dr. Hale had an enormous impact on my and my interest in neuropsychology.  I am certain that I carried his handbook with me everywhere I went for at least two years.  What a great loss of such a brilliant man.
