Hi all,

I am currently trying to generate a dataset of 3DMM faces using the 2019 Basel model. I am able to generate faces without problem, but I want to be able to control the skin tones for the faces. So far I have only been able to generate faces with lighter skin tones.

How would I generate faces with darker tones?

Many thanks,
Justyn

Hi Justyn,

the Basel Face Model is heavily biased towards light skintones.
Depending on your application you might want to use the AlbedoMM model for skintone instead?
There the underlying distribution of skintones is more rich - however rendering is a bit more complicated..

After trying for the last week and a half I was able to get the AlbedoMM code to work. Is it possible to control the skin tones (can be general, e.g. lighter and darker) using something like the parametric image generator? For example, say I wanted to generate 100 faces, where each face is looking in the same position.

Many thanks for your reply,
Justyn

Hi,

the AlbedoMM github repo provides a model viewer in scala.
You could do it there by hand or by changing the code slightly.
The parametric face inage genrator cannot handle the specular albedo part and gamma would not be applied properly (rendering there could also be adapted with some coding)

Best
