UV coords for BFM2019

Hi,

I have a question about the difference between number of vertex and number of uv coods.

According to new uv data("model2019_textureMapping.json"), there are 58351 uv coords in that file. However, bfm2019("model2019_fullHead.h5") having 58203 vertices.

Why these are not having same number? In order to use correct UV coords, how can I take a correspondance?

Hi Tsukasa,

The texture mapping stores the texture coordinate per point in a triangle. So for one vertex which is contained in two triangles, you could potentially get two different UV-coordinates.

You can find example code on how to use the texture mapping with our open-source scala software under:
https://github.com/Andreas-Forster/parenthetic-blog/tree/texture-mapping

This code also generates you a *.ply file which then contains the texture coordinates.

Thank you Andreas. I will take a look your example! Can I ask you one more question?

BFM2019 has 60 keypoints information like attached image.  Do you have a plan to add other type of landmarks such as 300W annotation(68 points)?

Also, If you have any idea could you please tell me the way to get other anotation's index from bfm2019?

There is nothing planned for adding more landmarks from different databases yet. It might come at some point or not, depending on our internal projects.

You can use scalismo-ui to add additional landmarks. Please have a look at:

https://github.com/Andreas-Forster/parenthetic-blog/tree/click-model-landmarks

The code should load the current 60 landmarks and the lvl 1 reference. Then you can click new landmarks and save them to a file. A second class can then be used to add this landmarkfile to a model.
