Interesting SDR!

Unmatched Compatibility & Software Support

With a simple change in jumper settings and a swap of the microSD card, SignalSDR Pro becomes fully compatible with leading SDR hardware like ADALM-PLUTO and USRP B210, among other examples, so it can be integrate seamlessly into existing workflows.

The thing I find intriguing about this radio is that it's relatively cheap.  How?   Unless they've cloned the AD9361, the
price from ADI for the AD9361 (That's the entirety of the RF-to-digital-samples subsystem) is NOT cheap.

So, if this is a "loss leader", what is it they're trying to entice you to "upsell" into?  How long before it is re-priced
to something more "in line" with the BOM costs?

Hi Marcus!

I figured this would catch your eye!
Seeing the AD9361 transceiver chip and price, my first thought was how! 🙂

One "trick" would be that you have ANOTHER product that uses the AD9361 chip in very high volumes, so your low-volume
product can "piggyback"  on that high volume product.  But you're not likely to get factor-of-5 price reduction by doing that...

Purchasing the chip and evaluation board is just as costly. No wonder the B210 is pricey!

Well, you get a good price break when buying the chips in bulk.  But NOT factor-of-5-to-10!!

I will say the B210 is worth it, IMHO. 🙂

I see pricing of the AD9361 of aound 300 EUR for fairly small quantities. While this would be a substantial cost for the overall product it is not completely impossible. Of course there is also the FPGA which adds another ~140 EUR in cost.
So there will be not much margin if any, but still they may get their product cost recovered at 900$.
There is also the AntSDR E200 with AD9361 which sells at 550$ so this must be an even bigger cost challenge.
Best,
Wolfgang
