Andy,

A very impressive expansion cloud chamber! It reminds of my high school days when I built an expansion cloud chamber using a couple of Skippy peanut butter jars. (Image attached)

Hi James,

Can I persuade you to give a talk about how you made your 2 peanut jar cloud chamber at one of muon meetings? If yes, then please drop me an email: andrew at thornett dot net

If there is anyone else who has done similar things or anything else involving cosmic rays, fundemental particles, and who would be happy to give a talk, however long or brief, please contact me as well.

Andy

Hi Jim,

Thanks for your kind words. Very much appreciated.

The picture of your chamber looks intriguing!

How long ago was it that you took this picture?
How did it perform?
Do you have any details left of what the main elements were?

It looks like a very interesting build and something that I too tried  -and failed - to do as a teenager (no money, very limited access to equipment, information limited to just a few paragraphs in a text book and maybe the odd magazine article - happy days.. ). Glad that you hung on to that photo!

All the best

Dave
