Continuing
on the topic of Antennas, here are
results obtained from modeling and testing
circular patch feed disk Yagi antennas.
Over the past 4 months, I have modeled, built and tested a number of configurations.
They perform quite well for their size, and exhibit high back and lobe suppression .
The one
shown here is the largest with a 1.5m boom and 23 directors
Performance Parameters :
FWHM beam width 23 degrees ( field_test matches model )
Gain 16.4 dBi
T_ant 290K_Earth - 10K_Sky = 6.2 dB
The spacing
of first 3 elements, Reflector, Feed, and First_Director ( besides patch feed diameter )
determines the Fn, and every element has an influence on the input impedance. An
adjustment of less than a cm spacing of even the far director ( or any) element will affect the Z match. ( as of course will the location of the feed point on the patch )
The entire structure acts as a tuned dynamic system .

These are based on the work by Dr Vidmar

Hard to read differing scales: What was 3 or 6 dB beamwidth in both cases?

They were both ~ 23-24 degrees
