SAQ Christmas Transmissions on 17.2 kHz

A Christmas Eve message was transmitted on 17.2 kHz by the rotary transmitter station SAQ in Sweden starting at 0800 UTC and received at Cohoe Radio Observatory almost 8000 km away. The path was over the North Pole and entirely in darkness.

The Cohoe antenna is a square loop with 1.2 m diagonal described here:

The receiver is the SDRPlay RSPduo controlled by SDRuno software.

A 25 second recording of the demodulated audio is attached along with an example of the spectra received during the transmissions.
