Senior Java Developer @ Richmond/Mclean, VA (Total Positions: 5)
100% remote for now, need to be onsite after COVID (Onsite in August or September 2022)

· 9 – 10+ of hands-on professional experience using Core Java, Angular, Microservices, Spring, Springboot, AWS and related frameworks.
· Solid understanding and experience with Object-Oriented design and development
· Experience in building server-side applications using J2EE Technologies.
· Proficient with database technologies, including modelling and performance tuning.
· Proficiency in Unix/Linux environments.
· Experienced with JUnit, Test Driven Development (TDD) using Concordion framework, and Behavior Driven Development using Cucumber and Gherkin.
· Competency with source control (preferably Git) and Continuous Integration tools such as Jenkins.
· Practiced understanding of Agile development methodologies & understanding of DevOps Integration
· Hands on with Agile software/tools (e.g., JIRA, etc.)
· The ability to write reusable, optimized, maintainable code that is well documented and follows industry-standard best practices

Qualifications:
· BS in Computer Science, Information Architecture, Mathematics, or similar field with a MS preferred
· 10+ years of data engineering experience, 3+ years of experience Spark, Scala, SQL.
· Advanced programming skills, including object-oriented programming; Proficient with Python; willingness to learn other languages as needed
· Expert level proficiency in data modeling, SQL query solution design and coding, query optimization and performance tuning
· Proficiency in AWS cloud
· Passionate about delivering high quality, data solutions to further scientific research
· Must be effective in a dynamic environment while adapting to changing priorities
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills
· Preference will be given to candidates with experience building with and/or using AWS analytics and data storage services
· Proficiency with predictive modeling approaches and/or preparing data for predictive modeling is preferred.
· Strong capacity for independent thinking and the ability to grasp underlying biological questions is a plus
