.                  இரவு மழை!

      

மழையில் நனைந்த இரவு வானம்

   மதியும் உடுவும் மறைக்குமே

வழியும் பிறழ்ந்து கதிரும் உலகின்

    மற்றோர் பக்கம் உதிக்குமே

அழியும் ஒளியும் இணைந்து போக

      அங்கே வெளிச்சம் சிறக்குமே

விழியும் மூடி அமைதி கொள்ள

      மெல்லப் பிறக்கும் உறக்கமே!

உடு = நக்ஷத்ரம். இச் சொல் அமைந்த வரலாற்றைப் பின்னர் சொல்கிறேன். உடு(-த்து) = to spangle., as in "Star spangled banner", the national anthem of the USA.

அமெரிக்க தேசியக் கொடியில், பெண்டிர் உடுக்களை உடுத்துதல். ஓவியம் காண்க:

அவ்வோவியம் தான் இரவு/இரா வானம் எனும் திரைச்சீலையில் தைக்கப்படும் (spangled) குறிகளுக்கு உடுக்கள் என்ற பெயரை உணர்த்துகிறது. அம்பின் நுனிக்கு உடு என்ற பெயர், குறி (மார்க்) ஏற்படுத்துவதால். நாணில் அம்பு புதைக்கும் இடமும் உடு. A mark on bow-string = uDu. Stars, as marks in the sky. so star = உடு.

இரவு/இரா ==> ரா-த்ரி. வடமொழி பெற்ற தமிழ்ச்சொல் , ராத்ரி.
