Dear friend,

Please type in devnagari fonts, using correct spelling. I could not figure out anything out of your roman spelling of the word. Please mention also where you got the word.

Otherwise, it would be hard to guess. If it is from some baby name lists available online, it is hopeless to find a correct Sanskrit word.

Hi,

I want to know the meaning of the word Ariv and would like to get the correct sound of this word (Ariv or Aariv or Areev)

I looked in the Sanskrit dictionary online but could not find anything.....
Was wondering if this word exists in Sanskrit. Seek advise from the gurus on this forum .....

As I can see, it is not Sanskrit word at all. ariv_arasu - means the same thing as given the meaning, in Tamil language. - the king of knowledge, that too a coined word.

Hope there is not much to discuss in Sanskrit about the word you picked up in the web.

Many Thanks for the reply.

Yes you are right , we got this name from online sites (http://www.babynology.com/meaning-ariv-m30.html and http://www.birthvillage.com/Name/Ariv)  and it supposed to be Sanskrit word and name means "king-of-wisdom". Another site suggest that it is Arivarasu (अरिवरसु) , so ariv can be short form of this word as well. But we are not sure of anything.

I'm not sure how to write this word in Hindi. That is reason i posted this question. It can be अरिव or अरीव.

Regards
Amit

Seems to be a Malayalam/ Tamizhu  word "arivu (അറിവ് /அறிவு/), If transliterated to Samskruth : "अरिव ".  In Malayalam/ Thamizu it means knowledge/ wisdom/ sciences. The context of the word is to be considered to verify in detail.

What is the point of transliterating into Devanagari (and not Sanskrit) and looking for the word in a Dictionary meant for Sanskrit words and ant not finding it there, asking the members to help?

Hello everyone. This is an old post. But I wanted to reopen to see if anyone found the word Aariv in Sanskrit. I only find it on Indian boy naming forums but is it really a Sanskrit word?

Hello, thank you.

I was looking for the Hindu name - AARIV,
not the Arabic name ARIF.

Best Wishes,
Nikhil
