ŚB 12.2
त्रिंशद्विंशतिवर्षाणि परमायु: कलौ नृणाम्
they
translated it like this   :
The maximum duration of life for human beings in Kali-yuga will become fifty years.
Is it correct?

And is there additional extensive evidence in the Vedas about signs of deterioration in life, besides this book?

thank you very much
( i can speak english a little bit. Little. just a few words. )

Namaste
Literally, the words are twenty and thirty.
The site you reference is adding these together...
The translation I have of Swami Tapasyananda says
"The maximum duration will be twenty to thirty years"

Yes, the life expectancy in Kali yuga may be around/upto 50 years. We have seen that statistically by population studies. See the graph below which clearly shows that around the 18th CE it was around 45-50 yrs. I could not find a quick reference prior to that.
However, from 19th CE onwards the life expectancy has been steadily increasing - also shown in the statistical graph. Can we say that the Kali has ended?

As far as I know, Kali Yuga has not even properly begun!
Are we not still in the "Sandhi Period"?
Also, the context of the verse seems to indicate that the measure of life will decline steadily during Kali Yuga - and there are still well over 400000 years to go!
Contextually, I have understood this to mean that by the end of Kali Yuga, this will be the average lifespan.

Have a look at graphs on the COVID - they take "8 day averages", but within that there are ups and downs.
200 years is a fraction of the duration of Kali Yuga, so I would not read too much into this.

Perhaps if we retain our ignorance for another few hundred thousand years, we can pick this up at the end of the Yuga
:-)

Yes, I agree. This period between 2020-22 may mark a dip in the life expectancy graphs because of Covid. but, it will not depress the grach from its current expectancy of 75 (or so) to 55. That will be an impossible event.
Even during the recording of1500s when the average life span was indeed 50s - there were dips: https://ourworldindata.org/grapher/life-expectancy?tab=chart&time=1543..2019&region=World
Someone in this group may point us to other scriptural references on the Yuga Cycle better and their interpretations. I am also aware of a scriptural reference which says the "Yuga" (its ending or beginning) is accurately determined by the arrival of Yuga purusha - sorry I do not have a ref for this too.
