Greetings community members,

We are working on an edition of our quarterly newsletter, The Dialogue, about first responder behavioral health, and we hope to include interviews and quotes from individuals with lived and living experience of responding in emergencies and disasters.

This issue will focus on the mental health and substance use issues affecting the responder community, the specific challenges they are facing, and strategies for remaining resilient.

We are reaching out to this group to inquire whether any members have experience they wish to share or could refer us to someone in their network who could serve as a subject matter expert.

We welcome feedback from individuals with experience in law enforcement, fire service, EMS, 911 dispatch, and other responder fields. We are happy to arrange a short interview by phone or receive your quote by email.

To arrange a short phone interview:

Please contact us at dt...@manhattanstrategy.com and provide your contact information and availability for a phone call.

To provide a quote:

Please send an email to dt...@manhattanstrategy.com and provide the following information:

1: Name, Job Title, Location (to be published with your quote, or let us know if you prefer to remain anonymous).

2: Using one or more of the following prompts, or your own question, share your experience and knowledge.

-What are the biggest behavioral health challenges facing first responders?

-How have you used self-monitoring and self-care to improve your behavioral health as a first responder?

-What are some strategies to remain resilient while serving as a first responder?

-How can leaders and behavioral health professionals best support first responders before, during, and after disasters?

Please reach out to SAMHSA DTAC if you are interested in participating, or if you have a questions: 1-800-308-3515 or via e-mail at  dt...@manhattanstrategy.com .  If you have resources to share on this topic, please reply to the thread.

Thank you,

The SAMHSA DTAC Team

Good afternoon,

I happy recommend Ms. Wendy Norris as a subject matter expert in Texas that would be a wonderful person to consider for your article.  We have worked closely together following many of the mass violence incidents in Texas to include the school shootings at Santa Fe, Tx, Uvalde, Tx, and the Walmart Shooting in El Paso.

She has a wealth of knowledge and highly regarded by first responder communities.

Thanks,

Chance
